John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, He Gave......
“Now is the Time” is our three year capital pledge campaign. The intensive phase for making our pledges will occur during Lent with a February 10th kickoff and conclude with a victory celebration on Palm Sunday, March 16th. During this time there will be information meetings, mailers, Lenten devotionals, weekly sermons, Sunday school lessons, songs and special presentations themed to this campaign.
The Goal of the campaign is to pay off the church's debt to the point we are able to manage a mortgage payment from our general budget and still fully fund our staff's salaries and all programs in our church. We also desire to raise enough money to purchase land adjacent to our church as it becomes available.
Together we will make a commitment to lower our building fund debt and secure the future of Grayson United Methodist. Our “Now is The Time” campaign is our way of reaching out to each family at Grayson United Methodist Church to commit sacrificial givings specifically towards this goal. Our goal is by March 16 (3:16) to have over $4M dollars pledged. Our church is in need and Now Is The Time to meet this need.
Now Is the Time Home Meetings
Many Home Meetings were held during Leap Week and we want to extend our sincere appreciation to the over 60 host/hostesses who opened their homes for this purpose. There will be three additional Home Meetings this upcoming Sunday at the church. They will all be in the chapel and will be held at 9:40, 10:50 and 12:15. If you were unable to attend your home meeting (or just want to see the video again) please feel free to drop in on one of these. No reservations required! Thanks!
What are your ideas for finding the money to pledge to this campaign?
Send them to nowisthetime@graysonumc.org and we'll post them here! Together we can help each other find ways to meet our goal! We're not expected to give equal gifts - just equal sacrifice.
- My wife and I find that even though we are on a fixed income we can and have given up (eating out) at least $100 per month which is a pledge we turned in that amounts to $1200 per year. If we can do this, all can do this, as a way to go for filling the bucket each month. Go for it you will feel much better at the end of the year, and really feel great about it at the end of three years.
- One family has decided to delay the purchase of their next car and use the money they would have paid in car payments to go to the Capital Campaign instead. Gift amount = $10,800.00
- One family has decided to postpone a "big" vacation to the Grand Canyon and to vacation nearer to home instead. They are going to take the money they'll save and give it to the church instead. Gift amount = $3000.00
- One family has decided to pledge the money they spend going out to dinner one night each week. $50.00 X 52 weeks X 3 years. Gift amount= $7800.00
- One child has decided to pledge a quarter a day .25 x 365 days = $91.25/yr X 3 years = $273.75
- One child has decided to pledge a dollar a week. 52 weeks X 3 years = $156.00
Words of Wisdom Concerning Giving
