Student Ministry: The Refuge (9th - 12th Grades)

In the midst of an ever changing world, where can we turn? With family issues, school work, friend drama and society telling me who I am and how I should look, is there any place I can simply have a break from it all? Here at Grayson UMC, we believe that God is our refuge (Jeremiah 16:19) and in life’s storms, Christ can calm the wind and the sea (Mark 4:39).

Our student ministry attempts to honor and respond to God’s radical and unconditional love in a faithful way. We believe that our relationship with God is enhanced through hanging-out, studying the bible, worshiping God, and serving others. As we grow in God’s love, we talk about how God is calling us to act at school, around our community, and in the world
A Message to Parents

First of all,we thank you for trusting your students to the ministry of GUMC. We recognize the gift that your student is and how God’s “fingerprints” are all overhim/her (even though it may be tough sometimes). Here at GUMC, we strive to offer a safe and friendly environment for your student to grow in her faith. High school is such an important part of your child’s life, and we believe that through a strong partnership between families and church, your child will feel more secure and stable in a chaotic world.

Our student ministry is basing our curriculum this year off of Stewart Hall’s “Seven Checkpoints". We are intentionally guiding the ministry to maximize the potential that your student graduates from high school knowing that God loves him and that God has a hope for her life. Ongoing Weekly Events

Sunday Mornings: Senior High Sunday School
Student Life Bible Study is the new curriculum for the senior high Sunday school class for the upcoming year. Our lessons and discussion will be focused on learning all about Christ, who is the foundation of the Bible and of our faith. Join us Sunday mornings for worship in the Contemporary Service at 9:39am in the PLC, then meet at 11:00am in our Sanctuary Hall - Rm 3 for Sunday School. Bring a friend!

Sunday Night Life
Sunday Night Life is another opportunity for our youth to grow in their faith. Each student will be part of a small group of 8-10 boys or 8-10 girls, with one adult leader of the same gender. Everyone will have an opportunity to study a relevant topic/issue within their group, and experience God in a very personal way. This will hopefully build a deep, intimate relationship with God and help them encourage one another within the group. Join us Sunday Nights from 5:00 - 6:30pm (Various Locations)

Wednesday Mornings
High School students are invited to begin their day with some hot pancakes and fellowship! Come...bring your friends and start your day with the Lord! Join us Wednesday mornings from 6:00am to 6:30am in the Christian Learning Center ("CLC")

Wednesday Nights
GUMC: All Access - Invite your friends to join us as we worship, play games and grow toether. We will share many different series throughout the year in which students will discover three essential experiences: Wonder, Discover and Passion. Join us Wednesday nights from 6:30- 7:30 pm in the Christian Learning Center ("CLC")
